The role
As the Coordinator Disaster Recovery, you will be at the forefront of coordinating Council's disaster recovery activities, ensuring that all projects align with the necessary guidelines and deliver outcomes for our community. Your expertise will drive the planning, reporting and delivery of critical infrastructure projects, including betterment initiatives and recovery efforts. As part of the Infrastructure Services Department, you will play a crucial role in the planning and execution of capital works and operational programs that significantly impact our community's resilience and recovery from disasters.
You will report directly to the Manager Works, overseeing the delivery of vital projects while managing external consultants and ensuring seamless operations across various departments. Your exceptional communication skills will be essential in liaising with regulatory authorities and stakeholders and fostering partnerships that enhance our recovery capabilities.
What we are looking for
We are seeking a proactive and skilled individual who can navigate complex challenges and deliver results. If you possess a blend of technical knowledge and leadership abilities, we would like to hear from you.
- You will have tertiary qualifications in Project Management, Civil/ Structural Engineering or Surveying, or equivalent experience in road construction and maintenance projects, along with a minimum of 5 years management experience in the Civil Engineering field in a medium to large multi-disciplined organisation
- You will have highly developed verbal communication skills with demonstrated achievement in effectively liaising and negotiating with clients, regulatory authorities, consultation groups and other staff
- You will have highly developed written communication skills, with the ability to interpret and analyse financial information, prepare effective reports and correspondence and perform contract administration along with an understanding of budget processes and procurement
- You will possess highly developed computer literacy skills, specifically in accessing information management systems, using project control, design programs and scheduling software with a strong knowledge of relevant Microsoft-based software packages and databases (e.g. MARS)
- You will have the ability to time manage multiple projects for delivery to Civil Works or external clients
- You will be able to demonstrate a high level of knowledge and practical application of relevant standards, technical guidelines and regulations and be able to details your experience in coordinating works carried out under Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA)

- LGOA Level 7/1 - $109,087 per annum
- Mareeba Allowance of $2,080 per annum
