The role
Our Administration Officer provides quality administrative services to the staff within Council's Infrastructure Services department, which includes our Technical Services, Works, Assets & Projects and Water & Waste groups. This position requires a proactive individual who can manage multiple priorities and contribute to enhancing departmental processes and systems.
What we are looking for
You will have excellent interpersonal skills and enjoy dealing with both internal and external customers in person, via email or over the phone. You will possess strong organisational skills, be detail-orientated, committed to maintaining high standards in your work environment and able to handle confidential information with sensitivity.
The successful applicant will have:
- Current Queensland C class driver’s licence
- Experience with Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel
- Knowledge of records management and customer request software systems
- Experience with administrative processes within local government is desirable
- Knowledge of statutory obligations and regulations that apply to local government will be highly regarded
You will be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, Australian permanent resident or have unrestricted work rights in Australia. Mareeba Shire Council does not offer employer visa sponsorship.

*In accordance with section 92 of the Queensland Industrial Relations Act 2016 the successful applicant will be employed as a replacement employee for the term of the incumbent employee's maternity leave. Although leave may be approved for a period of 12 months, it is important to note that the employee has the right to request to return to work earlier or later than initially approved. When the incumbent advises us of her intention to return to work, we will provide a minimum of two (2) weeks' notice of completion of this temporary placement.
